Guide: How to spend less money

Everyone knows the big money problem. The money is getting less and less, but there are still a few days left until the next money comes and now you have to be extremely frugal. What would it be like if this very problem didn’t arise in the first place? You would save a lot of stress and time and at the same time money.

Save, but how?

There are many ways to save money in everyday life, but unfortunately these are often just good intentions. You often calculate your monthly costs carefully, factor in money that you want to have for emergencies and end up spending more money than you intended. But with a few little tricks you can outsmart yourself and save money in the end.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips that can make saving money easier for you and give you peace of mind at the end of the month.

  • Make your money difficult for yourself to access. Work out how much money you need each month, for example for shopping, fuel and other costs that arise, withdraw this money and divide it up over the month. The rest of the money is then perfectly stored in an online checking account, which has a 48-hour waiting period for withdrawals. This way you can avoid simply withdrawing money in between. Of course, you should then manage a smaller emergency amount at home. You can also save money with a checking account without an ATM card, so purchases paid for with a card are also a thing of the past, as it is easy to lose track of them.
  • Get yourself an allowance that you can spend at any time, however you like, but when it is used up, you should be consistent and leave it at that.
  • Postpone wishes until later. Make an online wish list in which you list what you would like to buy and leave these things for your family or friends, for example. This way, your friends will save themselves a long search for the right gift and you will never receive unnecessary gifts again. At the same time, online vouchers for saving money have already proven to be very useful.
  • If you have found a cake that you like, then just get a small piece instead of the whole cake. Or do you feel like you need to relax again? Instead of going on an expensive short vacation, you can also take advantage of the wellness and spa offers in your immediate area. Let yourself be pampered for a few hours and you will feel like you have just had a short vacation, only you have spent less.
  • Everyday habits, such as buying coffee to go in the morning or ready-made sandwiches from the bakery, often cost over 30 euros in just one week. If you skip this trip in the morning and prepare your own breakfast, you can save a lot of money. Buy yourself a travel mug, so you always have your coffee to go with you, just the way you like it.

Of course there are many more of these tips and tricks, so in future you will think twice about buying a certain item of clothing, often you only realise then that those great shoes are perhaps not worth your money after all, because after an hour you are in terrible pain and then, like many others, you don’t wear them anymore. Of course this doesn’t just apply to clothing, no, in principle you should always ask yourself whether you really need a desired item, what advantages and disadvantages does the purchase have for me and do I urgently need it? Often you decide against buying it as soon as you have answered these questions for yourself.

Theoretically, anyone can save money if they really want to and stick to it consistently. Over time, you can save up a lot of money and perhaps fulfill a long-held and big dream.
